V. Rev. Silviu Nicolae Bunta was born and grew up as a "cradle Orthodox" in Romania, where he also received a B.Div. degree in Orthodox theology and an M.A. degree in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. He and his family moved to the United States in 1999, where Fr. Silviu received his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament and Early Judaism and where for twenty years he was a professor of Scripture and early Judaism, until his retirement from full-time university teaching in December 2022. Fr. Siviu was ordained to the priesthood by Archbp. Alexander (Golitzin) in December 2012 and served as a supply priest in the Bulgarian Diocese of the OCA until his assignment to our parish in January 2023. He was elevated to the rank of Archpriest in March 2025.
His Presvytera Maria is a medical physicist (that is, a nuclear physicist who works in cancer treatment) and their daughter Ana is a doctoral student in clinical psychology.
